How to Synchronize Your Blackberry with Your Computer
Connect your Blackberry to your computer using the USB cable that came with the hand held. Start the Blackberry desktop manager by choosing start, all programs, Blackberry, Blackberry desktop manager or you can double click the icon on your desktop. When the program opens, if the bottom of the screen says connected, you’re configured. If it says disconnected or disabled, the default USB connection isn’t ready. If that’s the case, choose options then connection settings; select USB from the drop down menu then click detect. Click okay on the warning, you should get a message that says device found, click okay and click okay again to leave the connection settings window.
Your status should now say connected, to start double click the synchronize icon. The synchronize tab allows you to manually start synchronizing. Be sure to check the box for automatic synchronization, this will keep you from having to resync your Blackberry every time you plug your phone into your PC. Then go to the configuration tab, then click configure sync. A window list your hand held applications such as address book, calendar, memo pad and tasks. Double click an application you want to synchronize such as address book. Select the program like Outlook or Yahoo that you want to use for syncing your addresses and click okay.
Select additional applications and programs in the same way then click okay. Click back to the synchronize tab and then click synchronize now. A confirmation shows up with a number of addresses you’re going to sync. Click accept, a progress bar tells you when you a sync is complete, when it’s done, click close. Your address book is now synced with the selected program on your PC.
