How to take apart your Guitar Hero Controller.
Now I have had my Guitar Hero Controller, since the game came out, Guitar Hero III and I played it, like basically everyday. I started playing Rock Band and all of a sudden the strum down bar breaks. So I look for the receipt, I can't find it. So I call UB games, they don't have any in stock and I don't know, whether they'll get it. And the guys have the great Activision, the web site. I go to the web site, it redirects me to RedOctane. RedOctane says they have a 60 day replacement policy and it's past 60 days. So you know what, I'll fix it myself.
So this is how I take it apart. First unscrew, all the screws are in the back, you need a star; I know you can't see it, but you need a star as a very pristine screw driver. Unscrew all these, there is one back here, if you just take this off, you avoid the warranty. So that's the final screw, once you unscrew it, you are free to -- let me shoot out the head first. You are free to open this up, once you open it up, you see all the parts, all of the front, except for the back, now on the back, is where the battery is.
Now don't be stupid like me and shake it around, because the wire broke off. So now I have to settle that together. But here you go, here is the IR port, the start, select buttons, the whammy bar and then the main part of the guitar. Render all screws here, unscrew those and you can take off the front. Then you go unscrew these here, and you get the main part the.
So I have to figure out how to fix this anyway, once you have that taken apart go to the head. Unscrew it here, then open up. You'll see all lead wires, unscrew here and here and take it off. Above here you'll find the buttons, you can take them out so that you can change it around and I don't know what that would do for you because the game is like that.
And here you have the Guitar Hero Controller taken apart. If you want to, you could make holes in the bottom here, and put the buttons here. It's like a Rock Band controller. But make sure you are very careful not to mess anything up, so then we can put it out together and it will still work. Unfortunately I doubt my own worth. Thank you Harmonics, thank you RedOctane and that is how you take apart a Guitar Hero Controller.
