One of best tips for taking many kinds of pictures doesn’t involve the settings on your camera at all but where you are when you hold it. Get some altitude. When you raise your camera above the subject, it often opens up the photo with a lot of depth. A typical shot of an interior for example might look like this—flat, busy and compressed. But look around, is there a staircase or some other elevation nearby, head up there, just getting a new feet completely changes the photo of the same place, giving it depth, showing the relation and context of objects within it. So look around for a staircase or something like that, you will find your photos improved.
