Okay the next thing we’re going to do is the opposite of our harness drill and we just call
this a 4 yard blast and we got 2 guys with pads either players or coaches. We’re going to
have the players holding on to their footballs and make sure they get 2 arms across. We
got forward leave. We want our knees up and we definitely want to speed up at the point
of attack and run through the double team on the pads. So this is something we do all the
time with warm-ups just basically get the guys ready to attack the line of scrimmage
we— that we want 4 yards on a play if guys will tackle a line of scrimmage like this, their
almost guaranteed to get 4 yards.
Come here Austin. Alright so we say ready, set, go! Two hands on the wall go, go, go,
go, go. Chop your feet, keep a nice wide base, get your knees up guys, get you knees up.
Here we go, set, go! Attack! Good job Paul, good job Paul! Good job. Okay give us a
good stance and go! Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go! Hands, attack, chop your feet, get your
knees up high. Guys get your knees up high let’s go. There’s going to be bodies you got
to know how to step on or triple ones let’s go. Set go! Go, go, go! Knees, knees up.
There. Here we go we’ll set them up. Set go!
Come on lean forward, let’s go! Here we, go we have fast, when you get to the pads and
that’s when it’s time to speed up okay. You don’t want to hit and stop running. You hit
and speed up. Let’s go. Ready, set, go! Let’s go. Fast feet, fast feet ease up, ease up.
Okay, that’s very good. Brady I want you to hit it and speed up. Here we go, ready, set
go! Hit it, good boy, good boy. Good job. Alright Paul hit it and speed up through it.
Ready, set, go! Good job! Alright hit and last breath, ready, set go. Good job, alright.
So you start with your harness, you have the ice pole, you have them chop, get your
knees up, you turn around, get your two pads out and do your blast drill pad lean and
push. You work with the inner and outer part of the leg getting used to getting 4 yards in
almost having numerous contacts so good job.
