Before you publish your site in Dreamweaver, you want to make sure that all you're links are working. A simple way to do this is to use “link checker”.
First of all go to window and then results to bring up here results then you want to click on link checker at the top of this pane. And you are going to have the opportunity to run through your links to find your broken links, your external links or any orphan files.
But just stick with broken link right now and if you click on this error right here, it’s going to give you the option to check links in the current document that you have open, your entire current local site. So the site that you defined all the pages or you can select only certain files you want to go to, to run the link checker. I’m going to go ahead and do the links so that current document and as you click that it’s going to show the links that are broken. And I have two here I just ran it a few minutes ago and I have two of them out of all my links.
It’s pretty easy to fix this links if you go over and click on the broken link then it’s going to give you the opportunity to fix it and if this is and internal link you can click on your folder. And then you can go ahead and select the correct webpage if it is an external link then you can go ahead and just type whatever you need to fix it and as you fix them and they're approved they’ll go ahead and be remove from the list and then they’re removed.
Before you correct those links if you’d too you can click this disk button and that will save the report. So it will give you a record of the broken links that you’ve had before you get them fix so that’s how you can test links with link checker and Dreamweaver CS3.
