How to Test for Rust in Radiators

Have you ever noticed sometimes your radiator get hot up here and cold in the middle? Now, sometimes it could be due to rust in the system. Normally, you can add rust inhibitor to the bleed nipple which is located either side, either of the 2 sides of the radiator. The best way to check if you’ve got enough rust inhibitor in your radiator is to do this simple test. I got 2 jars. One filled with some of the water from the radiator and the other, ordinary tap water. Now what’s one to do then is to put a nail in each bottle. After a few days, the nail in the ordinary tap water will rust. The one in the water that you just got from your radiator should be rust-free. That’s the way to tell whether you have enough rust inhibitor in your radiators. If this nail rusts, then you will need to add rust inhibitor into your radiator. Like I said, that can be put in from the bleed nipple. Just open the bleed nipple and comes as a tube or kit.
