Hi, I am Beth Bates with sewteacher.com. Today, we are learning how to use sewing machine. In this clip, we’re going to talk about winding the bob bobbin.
Before we begin, please be sure to follow the diagram that came with the instructions with your particular sewing machine; their maybe of a little bit of a variants, however most sewing machines are fairly similar and you should be able to follow along.
Another important thing is, be sure to use the bobbins that came with your sewing machine or match them exactly if you’re going to buy them in a store, you don’t want to switch out with other sewing machines that could throw your timing off.
So let’s go ahead and get started. I’m going to turn the machine so you can see the back when you get your spool thread and you need to have, thread on the stick there; the thread needs to be enwinding this way, not that way behind it but actually in front of it. And you come around and push place it through this hook. I’m going to turn the machine.
Often times, they’ll have you just go around it once but I kind of like to oops, thrust the ground like that, get your bobbin in there, okay and make sure that you have a tag showing like here; I’m going to turn the machine.
In my particular machine and probably yours as well, you need to pull this out so when you push the pedal, the needle isn’t going up and down, just the engine will run, okay. Move it over.
Next step is to hold this. You can kind of follow it. If it’s, move it up.
Okay, use your scissors or snips, snip it, slide it off. Now let’s put it in the casing. And I’m going to turn the machine that you can see it and here, you pull this, this sort of like a little handle, pull it, take your bobbin with a nice tail, insert it in there and if you can see there’s a slight slit right there, right through the slit, bring it around so it’s in there; you should be able to pull it, it shouldn’t move freely. And have a nice long tail.
If you note down here, you’ll see a little groove, that’s where this handle’s going to go and we’re going to take it and you should hear it click; this tail should be hanging out because next we’re going to go ahead and throw your, thread your sewing machine and we will have the needle come down and catch this and bring it up to the top.
