How to Throw a Garden Party
Hello, it is Anna Copa Canbanna here from Australia and I am here to talk about Garden Parties or in America ‘Garden Parties.’
And Garden Parties are fun—we can think traditional or we can think modern. It all that running around the garden in white, but I am thinking about “Picnic at Hanging Rock” which is a great movie, you should go and see it, because there they were like running around in white screaming “Miranda! Miranda!” and then she disappeared and I think she turned into a spider. You know, it is wonderful! It is great.
Really, here are some tips on having a great garden party.
Tip #1: Clothes. Garden party—what is in there to say? Well; we can talk about the clothes. I think you should all wear white linen dresses for the girls—very long white dresses, maybe some white stockings or bare feet that is fine too. Men seersucker and straw hats and perhaps singing some acapella, some ‘barbershop’ sort of annoying but it is very garden party, just remember to look very privileged and happy.
Tip #2: Food and Drink. Garden party tip number two. Let us think about food and drink. Now, the drink probably mixture and Arnold Palmers which is lemonade and iced tea, and maybe some wines pitchers because that is always fun, is not it? Bubbly, bubbly is good. And eats just some finger food, nothing too crazy—do not want to slop it over your hands because be very delicate at garden parties and we want to follow it later. So, just want to keep clean.
Tip #3: Games. Okay, garden party enthusiast, what are some traditional games to play at a garden party? Well, we are privileged, do we? And we wear deodorant, so we can run around and play tennis. We can play badminton with a shuttlecock. We can play crochet and botchie, and I do not know if you are feeling modern, you can play Frisbee, just not with a dog because then it gets messy.
Tip #4: Music. And now from music, it is very important to have classical or jazz, so you can hire a sting quartet or some of those boys that you see in the subway. That is right, they are young and there are pretty, so that is fine, I am sure they will like to play a little jazz saxophone for you.
Or if you want to get it a little modern, why not try hip-hop, you know, you might feel a little bit more ‘street’ and that is sort brings people more together—you know the privileged and the underprivileged, people who live in towers and people who live on the street, that is fun it not it? Or you just keep singing your ‘barbershop’ and annoy everyone.
