Let's look at some full motion screw balls. She strides out. Her upper body is over the power line, her hand goes knee-to-knee, spins out to the left for the lefty. She kicks the drag foot and then falls to the left side, it's a controlled off-balance.
Often times, I hear that it's obvious what pitcher throwing because you stride so far out on this pitch. We will work on some other combos, work on not just a screw ball that goes inside, for me the righty, but also work on a screw ball that goes outside, so that every time I do the stride the ball is not coming in on the hitter, I can sometimes go out on the hitter.
Another good combination, stride this way, screw ball in, stride this way, rise ball out, or stride this way, fast ball out. So we definitely want the deception of the stride and not every time the stride goes here, the ball goes the same place.
Same thing when we stride across for the curve balls. I can stride across, curve it out, stride across, curve it inside, and I can stride across and throw other pitches, throw rise, throw fast ball, so different pitches off of the same stride.
