Splurge Party Tips.
Wendy Walsh: Every one loves being invited to a party, but planning one can sometimes be a little bit stressful. Here are a few tips to get you through your next party with ease.
Planning an event should be as much fun as throwing one. So keep it simple, but make it special with a few extra touches. Let's start with food. You want to purchase all non perishables at least four or five days in advance to cut down on stress.
But when it comes to items like meat or fish, buy them a day before the party so they are fresh. Okay, so what are you going to serve? Take your average veggie plate up a notch, by adding blanched asparagus and endive. Then pair it with a colorful tomato and fresh mozzarella salad.
Here is another simple appetizer. Fill pastry shells with cheese, salsa beans and sour cream to make it colorful Mexican cup. Now for the main course, the quality of food is important. So be sure to splurge on the finest ingredients. And try to purchase your meats and sea food from local markets. This way the food is guaranteed to be fresh.
Female Speaker: Oh these are beautiful.
Wendy Walsh: And you'll get expert advice on preparation. With all these great food your guests are going to be thirsty, so keep the drinks flowing. If you are serving wine, make sure you don't come up a few bottle short. A good ratio to follow is one bottle for every two people. Wine and food should complement each other.
A general rule is to serve reds with red meat, whites with white meat and fish. And most importantly, choose a wine you know and like. It's easy to get caught up in the food and drink preparation, but dint ignore decor. You want to give your guest something to talk about, and little extra touches go a long way.
Here's an easy way to make a statement, buy a dozen lemons and a clear vase and viola! You got yourself a center piece. If you want to get even more creative to take your table from blah to amazing, here wheat grass is used as a table cloth. The food looks even more mouthwatering against the brilliant green, and it creates a real focal point in the room.
You can even make your bathroom gorgeous. Fill your bathtub with water and add flowers. Then surround it with candles. By decorating the unexpected areas your guests will really feel special.
So cheers! Go ahead, splurge on a party that will have your guests talking until your next big bash! Thanks for watching, I am Wendy Walsh
