Welcome to a fishing knot instruction video from Videofishingknots.com. In this video I will show you how to plate a double. This knot is a little bit complicated but very beautiful and very strong. So its definitely worth for learning it. The first thing you need to make sure is that you have this standing part to expand it just say at the drag on your wheel and so you can suspend the standing part.
Now with that in place you form a loop by taking the tag end and putting it over and the standing part you need a good long generous tag end for this knot and you can hold on to here with your thumb and your index finger and when you satisfied with the sides on your loop. You grab the tag end with your right hand and then you grab for this leg or the loop with your thumb and your index finger and you grab the other leg in the loop and with left hand and from this position you are ready to start plaiting or tying to this knot.
When you are plaiting there is a couple of simple rules to remember. You always have three parts. You have one to the left, one to the right and you have one in the middle and you always take either the left or the right and move it to the middle and the one to choose is the one that is furtherest behind. You can see that this one is little closer to the loop than this one is. So in this case which that add where the one to the right which is also the tag end and you move that one to form a new middle, and then you switch to the left side and take that one and move that one to the middle like that and then finally you take the right one and move it to the middle.
Now we have moved all three parts to the middle ones and we call that a cycle and you need to do at least 12 of these cycles to make a strong nut. I will just do a couple of more cycles so you can see how it works. Take the left one move it to the middle and then we take the right one move it to the middle and then we will take the left one and move it to the middle. Again you take the right one move it to the middle then you take the left part and you move it to the middle and then you complete the cycle by taking the right one and moving that one to the middle and again the left one and then the right one and the left one. That was four cycles in total and you can see that we start forming this nice pattern of the plate. When you have done 12 complete cycles you are ready to secure the plate or the knot and the way that you do that is that you do two cycles more but to do them a little bit differently then you normally would. Basically its the same thing you will check the right one and right five and place it in the middle like you normally would. But then before you move on you form that into a little by taking the tag end here like that. So you now have to loop in the middle.
It's same thing you just formed a loop instead of a single part and then you keep going. We just took the right side and put it in the middle. So now you will take the left part and you put that one in the middle and then you would take the right part and put that in the middle and that was one compete cycle and you need to do one more cycle this way. So now you just take the whole loop that is a left part you put it in the middle and then you take the right part and put it in the middle and you take the left side and you place it in the middle and now just to finish things up you would take the right side and you place it in the middle like this.
Now you would take the big loop here that we started out formerly and you put it through the loop that you just created you will put it through that loop like that. So now you will have something like this and now to pull everything tight, you can take the tag end and the big loop and then you pull the tag end as you hold on to the big loop like this and you pull both of them and when you pull them you will. I secure the tag end and this will finish of the plate then you just need to trim the tag end you are done.
When you will trim the tag end you will end up with a very smooth knot that is very beautiful, that has a very nice pattern there. Its in the inside here forms a perfect loop. You have a little tag end coming out there where there is no pressure in it, so it will stay there. So basically this is the very strong and very beautiful knot.
