Proloy: As what Fox news has to say, you know those polls you are not going to see on CNN for example, but on my website, you got it all.
Zorianna: Hi, welcome to Dog and Pony. I am Zorianna Kit. Proloy Bhatta started his career as an engineer before following his love of politics and starting the website, usaelectionpolls.com. Proloy welcome!
Proloy: Nice to meet you.
Zorianna: So, tell me about usaelectionpolls.com, what exactly is that?
Proloy: Well in short basically, it is a website where people can go to and have a centralized location to have all of the polls, so whether you are looking to see how Barach Obama or Hilary Clinton are doing in Indiana and North Carolina, since it was the states coming up, you will see what all of the pollsters have to say about it.
Zorianna: Does your site cover local politics as well as the national stuff?
Proloy: Yes, very just recently, we have also had congress polls, senate polls and basically local races and so we are basically expanding upon the national race where you know the bulk of the interest is and then just going out.
Zorianna: So, do people come to your pollsters because they want you to feature them on their site?
Proloy: Well, I just put the results on the site.
Zorianna: Okay.
Proloy: And I take their source data, put in on my website so that in case they are doing something screwy and they try to delete their source, I have got it on my website. People can see archived data and know exactly what is going on. There is accountability to all the pollsters so when you go to CNN.com, you are only going to be given the poll that CNN basically sponsored. You are not going to be given what NBC says, what ABC says, what Fox News has to say. There is also other pollster that basically kind of focus in on polls. Those polls you are not going to see on CNN for example, but on my website, you got it all.
Zorianna: Is there such thing as an accurate poll?
Proloy: They try to make their best guess and you know if you are an honest pollster, you have got an accurate poll. Now, there is a lot of guess work that goes into polling. You know like for example let us say I am going to go out do a poll. I am going to get 600 respondents to tell me what they believe, right? But the problem with it, those 600 respondents may not be a perfect profile of who goes out to vote, right? I mean in theory, what happens is a lot of older women are more likely to pick up that phone but they are not that in proportion, they are not that more likely to actually go vote.
Zorianna: Okay. So, we are going to play a little game now called None of your Business. I am going to ask you some questions and you can either answer them or tell me that it is none of my business.
Proloy: Okay.
Zorianna: Who should not use your site?
Proloy: Who should use my site?
Zorianna: Should not.
Proloy: Everyone should.
Zorianna: Oh really?
Proloy: Yeah.
Zorianna: Why?
Proloy: It is like I said, it is accountability. Now, let us say you are a Clinton supporter, you can look at my polls. And if you’ve got like a devious plan where you do not really want to look at, the real data, you do not really want to analyze it, well just find a poll that shows your candidate to have.
Zorianna: Who are you voting for for President?
Proloy: None of your business.
Zorianna: Who is going to be president?
Proloy: At this point, you have got to say McCain. It is because what is going on with Clinton and Obama, they are basically attacking each other. There is a lot of negative covers on both candidates because they are in a heated race and McCain just looks like the good guy. I mean he has got experience, he’s got the war hero issue.
Zorianna: Wait, that has nothing to do with polls. You are basing that on two candidates eating each other alive and the last man standing.
Proloy: No, but yeah right but the polls actually reflect that as well. I have been tracking the numbers on the general election match up polls. And basically, you need 270 electoral votes to win the presidency and so what I have been doing is I have been going state by state. There is 50 states in the union that have electoral votes to give out and if you were to just go down the list, one through 50, state match ups Obama versus McCain and Clinton versus McCain, McCain trounces Obama and beats Clinton.
Zorianna: Between Obama and Hilary, who will be the winner?
Proloy: Well actually, it depends, I mean from a delegate race, you have got to say Obama but the thing is when it comes to how Michigan and Florida play out, we do not know how that is going to be. I mean it is the powers that we are going to decide that but if you just go based on raw numbers, what states are left and in the super delegates, Obama is going to be the democratic nominee.
Zorianna: Thanks for playing None of your Business. Proloy Bhatta, owner and founder of usaelectionpolls.com. Thank you so much for joining us. If you have questions, comments, or ideas for guests, please e-mail us at info@dogandpony.com. I am Zorianna Kit. Thanks for watching.
