Start your lateral movement with marching. Remember with our lateral movement, we have the same principles as our linear movement. We want a Dorsey flex to ankle, we want to recover the knee in front of the body so the heel comes up under the hand spring so we are in a power position. We are going to go down through the middle of the hurdles, emphasis is on pushing with my trail leg. In this case, my left leg, as I step over, and march through the hurdle.

Now let us break down our skills. Juts like we did for linear movement, we are going to go with a dead leg run. We want to work on forced application pushing into the ground away from the direction that we want to go. So in this case, I am going to keep the left leg straight locked using the ankle to push and I am going to step right over the corner of the hurdle with my right foot.

Now let us take it to a run. It is push and step, push and step action as we go over the hurdle.

Let us do the same dead leg run but now I have eliminated two hurdles and spaced them out further. So I am going to have longer stride length. I have to put more force to move more laterally.

Now, let us go to a lateral shuffle or just a two step between the hurdle run. We are going to go down the middle of hurdles now. What I want is a pause at each end. We are going to go work each direction to balance the body. But I do not want to just stop and immediately come back. I want to break things down, make sure everything was done correctly by stopping, regaining composure and then coming back focusing on one leg at a time, one direction at a time.
