How to Transfer a Pattern to Wood

The first step in using you transfer tool is to be sure that your wood is sanded smooth. I have to go through 220-grit, this is a very important step when you’re using the transfer tool. Any letters or numbers on your pattern will need to be printed as a mere image. Attach your pattern to your wood with tape by forming a hinge and then check the temperature of your transfer tool on a piece of scrap wood. A light burn is just fine. If it’s a little black, it’s too hot. Take the temperature out on your piece of scrap wood.

Now, I’m all set and I’m going to move from one end to the other. This is real time, I’m not pausing the tape or doing any editing so you can see how quickly and easily you can transfer a pattern on to your wood. That’s it! I’ve transferred it on to my wood.

Now, I’m also to chip carve it. Here’s one that I’ve chipped carved. Any extra or excess transfer pattern lines on your wood can be removed using your tumble ink eraser and a light sanding. This transfer tool works with laser printed images and photocopies, not inkjet printers.
