Narrator: Mankind has always been fascinated by the thought of traveling in time. Over the centuries, there have been all kinds of ideas about of how could it be done. But of course, time travel is impossible or is it? This is the story of Hakan Nordkvist, a man who claims to have visited the future.
Hakan Nordkvist: I had been working in Oland, came home and walked in the kitchen, there was water on the floor and I thought “Oh, no!” Must be a pipe under the sink. So, I get my tools to fix it but I cannot reach as it is so far in. I just keep crawling in, further and further. Anyway, at the end it gets light and I can stand up. And I see myself as an older man, maybe about 70.
Narrator: It would be very easy to dismiss Hakan Nordkvist as a liar, if it was not for this.
Hakan Nordkvist: Luckily, because I thought no one is going to believe this. I had my mobile and could film it. So, we stood there talking and it was a nice feeling, I really a great feeling.
Narrator: That supposed that moment Hakan Nordkvist is telling the truth, if so, is there an explanation? We ask Hans Karlsson, Professor in Theoretical Physics.
Hans Karlsson: There are many theories about time travel, one is the twin paradox. There are theories about black holes, and about wormholes, shortcuts between two places in the universe. According to the law of physics these are theoretically possible. They may not be very likely, but the theory is well-founded enough not to dismiss them.
Hakan Nordkvist: Quite simply, I met myself there in the future and had a great time. I do not really care what other people think.
Narrator: Hakan Nordkvist stands by his claim and scientist can completely dismiss his story. Even so, the questions remain is this really possible, as Albert Einstein once said, the most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious, it is the source of all true science.
