So you’re thinking about getting a small animal, a hamster or a guinea pig. Guinea pigs are very
easy to take care of. This guy is about a month old, their very friendly, very soft, and very
affectionate. Sometimes guinea pigs do shed a little bit, but not much. They don’t take up much
room, they eat very little, and they make a lot of different noises, depending on what mood
they’re in. This guy is very happy at the moment, making little squeak noises. Before you buy a
guinea pig, there’s a few thing you need to know, one, is their cage size and the rest of their
accessories. The cage size should be decent, you will get probably 3 or 4 times the size when he
is full grown. The cage size we carry here is 30 inches long by 18 inches wide by 16 inches high,
which is perfect for the rest of his life. You’ll need some pine shavings as bedding, some hay as
food, a heavy duty food bowl so he cannot spill it, a water bottle and a hide hut for him to hide
under to feel secure. First I would put in about a half a bag of pine shavings, put in his hide hut,
his bowl of food and give him a little bit of hay in his hay field. After you put your guinea pig in
the cage, I would give him a couple of hours to get use to his new environment to explore
everything before you go and handle him again. He’s gonna be a little nervous, a little scared.
You’re guinea pig will enjoy you more if he has a home to feel safe in. Guinea pigs are very easy
to take care of, just interact with them every day like you would any other animal you own, a dog
or a cat. Because guinea pigs are such a low maintenance animal, they’re a great starter pet. So
stop into the store, we have a lot to choose from, pick one out today and give him a name.
