Molly: My name is Molly and I am one of the co-owners of Nochi. And it is a really pretty, pretty shop on Main St. in Vineyard Haven in Martha’s Vineyard.
Sophia: I am Sophia Nadelstein and I am Molly’s partner in the store. Molly takes care of antiques and linens and I take care of fresh flowers and parties.
Molly: Hey! I am Molly Finkelstein and I am going to tell you a little bit about decorating a child’s room with a garden theme. So, one of the first things I might do is think of green because is the color that is universal in all gardens. And I would probably pick a really pretty fresh spring green. And you could maybe do some beds with a picket headboard which would be very, very cute.
You could either frame to hang on the walls nursery rhymes pictures. Or you could frame pictures of flowers, do some botanicals which would be really, really pretty. And another thing that you might do is you might find a small child’s picnic table in peanut white and this would be the place where they could sit and color and have a tea party. Or you could find maybe a round deck chair and paint it a small child’s chair and that might be really nice where a small wicker chair, sometime in antique markets you can find this.
Make sure that if you find something old that it does not have lead paint and then you might want to put on the floor a rug that echoed the green. I probably would not do a sea grass or a natural fiber grass because they stain. But I think once you get started with your green theme and your outdoor gardeny aspects, you will find that maybe your little one would want to go outside and plant a garden.
