Tom MacCubbin: Today, we’re going to turn this container into a ladybug cup it’s going to be fun. I’m Tom MacCubbin.
Joani MacCubbin: And I’m Joani MacCubbin and welcome to hisandhersgardenign.com.
Tom MacCubbin: And Joani has everything together here and she can teach me how to do it, right?
Joani MacCubbin: I am. First we’re going to get some sponges.
Tom MacCubbin: Okay.
Joani MacCubbin: A large one and a small one and we’re going to draw a circle on the largest sponge with a magic marker and we’re going to cut it out and we’re going to end up with a piece of sponge like this. And that is going to be the body of the ladybug.
Tom MacCubbin: Any old sponge will do.
Joani MacCubbin: Yes.
Tom MacCubbin: Sure, okay.
Joani MacCubbin: So I’m going to give this one to you. First you’re going to do is dip it in the acrylic paint that we have here.
Tom MacCubbin: Okay, now this acrylic paint you get where?
Joani MacCubbin: Anywhere, anywhere—
Tom MacCubbin: And this is all washable so the kids who are out there doing this, no problem or anything like it because I am bound to make a mess. Okay first of all, we want to make the body.
Joani MacCubbin: Body, yes.
Tom MacCubbin: Okay, just going to done that one—dab it over here just a little bit and then, any position?
Joani MacCubbin: Any way you want but keep them go around the pot that keeps them—you're learning very well.
Tom MacCubbin: Yes, quick learn. I think I need a little bit more actually.
Joani MacCubbin: Here we go.
Tom MacCubbin: Here we go.
Joani MacCubbin: And go around the bug to keep them you know a little bit of part so they can be the wrong ladybug you know.
Tom MacCubbin: Any kid can do this. I can do this. Anybody in the family can do it, there we go how about that.
Joani MacCubbin: It looks very nice.
Tom MacCubbin: Here we go, okay.
Joani MacCubbin: Because everybody listening is not going to—
Tom MacCubbin: Aggression.
Joani MacCubbin: After you’ve got your little circles all around the pot, you put a little board around here and with the second part of the sponge that we’ve cut from the bigger sponge, we are going to dip this a little bit in the blue.
Tom MacCubbin: Very good.
Joani MacCubbin: And make it a checkered board. Would you like to do that on that pot?
Tom MacCubbin: Yeah, let me have a try at this, this is kind of fun.
Joani MacCubbin: There we go.
Tom MacCubbin: Okay, we’re right at the top right.
Joani MacCubbin: Right and then leave a little space just like you’ve done, perfect.
Tom MacCubbin: Okay, one more.
Joani MacCubbin: Perfect, one more.
Tom MacCubbin: Okay.
Joani MacCubbin: Now you turn the sponge over and you're going to apply a second color to your little checkered board.
Tom MacCubbin: Just remember if you get in your fingers, okay I like white this time how about that?
Joani MacCubbin: Okay.
Tom MacCubbin: Were going to put a little bit there and fill it in between.
Joani MacCubbin: Oh, how nice.
Tom MacCubbin: Hey, I think we got it down better.
Joani MacCubbin: Oh, look at that.
Tom MacCubbin: Very good.
Joani MacCubbin: Just the spot.
Tom MacCubbin: Right there?
Joani MacCubbin: Yes.
Tom MacCubbin: Oh! A little bit of trouble, that’s tempting.
Joani MacCubbin: Okay, when you’re done with that you say “Hey, that doesn’t really look like a ladybug”. Okay, with a little magic marker you can turn this little spot into a ladybug. And you put a half circle here and then you put three dots on each side of that circle.
Tom MacCubbin: A six spotted ladybug. One of the rare breeds.
Joani MacCubbin: That’s right, and then you put a little head on, little half circle.
Tom MacCubbin: Okay.
Joani MacCubbin: Fill it in with color and them on each side, you put a seven. This should be a backward seven. Backward seven and the other of the seven, seven, seven and its got to have you know the little antenna.
Tom MacCubbin: Antenna, everybody’s got an antenna.
Joani MacCubbin: And there, there is your ladybug and then you do that all the way around the pot and you end up with all these little ladybugs.
Tom MacCubbin: Yeah, and the checkered board goes all the way around the top and you’ve got so much of this fire over here.
Joani MacCubbin: We do right here and we add a to this one a little soused.
Tom MacCubbin: So how do you do that?
Joani MacCubbin: Put some balls on the bottom and you can buy them in any crafts store, little roundly and glue them on the bottom and then you're finish. Put a plant in it or whatever.
Tom MacCubbin: Very good or something that you want to give to a friend.
Joani MacCubbin: Yeah.
Tom MacCubbin: It’s a nice gift wouldn’t it?
Joani MacCubbin: Yes.
Tom MacCubbin: Same way, ladybug pots.
Joani MacCubbin: Well I guess that’s all for today.
