How to Twist Pretzels

Hi, I am still Jay Stewart and I am from Auntie Anne's and I am going to show you how to make soft pretzels in your home. Right now we are going to twist and don't worry about the degree of difficulty, I thought I would never be able to do this and look at me now, coming to your house through video. After we have our dough strip cut, you are going to grab the ends in both hands about a foot apart, left hand a little bit higher and in a sense you are just going to lasso and then bring it down to the counter. So do it in live motion, just twist it and down to the counter and once you have it, you want to press your toes. We actually call the end of our pretzels toes, pretzels do have body parts. So again about a foot up a width and you are going to lasso and then bring it down to the counter and press your toes up and pinch, do it more appropriately and then shape your pretzel and the result is a pretzel made for baking. And we will show that again, just like you are lassoing the what do they call? Lassoing in the rodeos and some of you maybe professionals already and that's how we do it in our stores. If you are struggling with this which believe me it has taken me 10 years to get to this part, you can also take your dough strip and form a U on your counter and then you take the toes, the ends and then just fold them over once and then fold them again twice, wrap them around and then bring the toes down and you want maybe a couple of inches apart from each other to get the nice pretzel shape and then pull the tops separate a little bit so you get a nice V at the top and then you have a pretzel made for baking. To do that again, you have your dough strip, you are going to lay it on the counter, on your counter at home and form a U, you are going to take your toes and you are going to wrap it around once and then you are going to do it a second time and till you get knot and you are going to bring your toes down and then pinch the ends, then you got to grab the tops of your pretzels and just separate them a little bit to form the nice V at the top and viola, an Auntie Anne's pretzel, ready for your over. Next, I am going to show you how to prepare your pretzels for baking.
