Free and open source software is distributed under one of a raft of different licenses. Some of the most important are the GPL, that’s the new public license, the LGPL, the lesser GNU public license and many, many others. In fact there’s something of a feeling in the community that there are too many licenses. And in fact you should try and choose for your own project one of this several main licenses. Now, this differ primarily and that the GPL and to a lesser extent the LGPL promote free software whereas PSD is considered the—license for open source software.
