How to Update a Kitchen

Desiree Bell: Welcome to the 1950s. This is our kitchen. Our house has all the charming details of on older home, but this kitchen is a bit archaic. Lauren Lake: Once upon a time this was an old outdated kitchen that wasn't charming anybody. So looking around now, you're charmed I'm sure of it. We transform this kitchen from old fashion to high fashion, and we stayed within our budget of $45,000 to $55,000. Desiree Bell: Welcome to our new modern kitchen. Brian Bell: This is beautiful. Lauren Lake: My overall design concept for this kitchen was to use traditional style coupled with modern flair, functionality, and gorgeous cultural accessories. Desiree Bell: This is a granite countertop. I thought I'd never have granite in the kitchen. Brian Bell: We had no eating space till now. We can actually sit and enjoy the space. Desiree Bell: Come forward there was no sink here, there was nothing here actually. This is very convenient for me when I cook, and I can't believe we have an aisle in. Voila! We have a dishwasher, an integrated dishwasher. Brian Bell: Then I can now wash dishes and maybe not break a glass every day. Desiree Bell: Yes. Please. Thank you. Brian Bell: This is phenomenal to me. Desiree Bell: This is great. Brian Bell: I love cooking, at least trying to cook. Desiree Bell: Trying. Brian Bell: And this is so functional. If you look at it six burners, it's industrial stainless steel. Desiree Bell: And right above the other, we have new cabinet. We could remember before we have very little to no cabinet space here and the light. I love these recessed light. I have a little two lights above the sink. Brian Bell: All on dimmers. Desiree Bell: So when we want to have romantic dinner, we can. Brian Bell: Look at this monster, and the Des and I has integrated this refrigerator into the kitchen. So now it's like one stainless steel. Desiree Bell: I would rather have an integrated microwave and an espresso machine and countertop space that a washer and dryer any day. Brian Bell: Heated floors, that I couldn't believe. I wouldn't even think that; that's possible in the kitchen. Desiree Bell: You wouldn't even know that they were laminate floors. Brian Bell: Yeah and me and the guys worked on this and it laid down so easy. I would have never imagined that our kitchen could look like this. Desiree Bell: Well, this is a thousand times better.
