Windows Internet Explorer 8 provides many enhancements to your web browsing experience. But as you browse the web, you may come across a site that was designed for older browsers or maybe display problems like misaligned text, images or text boxes.
If you are on a site that may not work correctly, Internet Explorer 8 adds a new button to the Address bar. This is the Compatibility View button. Simply press the button and Internet Explorer 8 will display the site as it was designed to look in older browsers.
Once you turn on Compatibility View for a particular site, Internet Explorer 8 will remember that site and automatically turn on Compatibility View the next time you visit.
If the site has been updated to work with Internet Explorer 8, Compatibility View would be turned off and the button will go away.
You can also change your Compatibility View settings so that it turns on automatically for any site that hasn’t been updated for Internet Explorer 8.
From Tools, select Compatibility View Settings. From here, you could enter address of the website that should always be viewed in Compatibility View or remove a website that has been updated to take advantage of Internet Explorer 8.
You could tell Internet Explorer 8 to display all internet sites in Internet Explorer 8 mode instead of the default Internet Explorer 7 mode. Finally, if you check this box, all websites will be viewed in Compatibility View.
With Compatibility View, you will be able to view more of your favorite sites and use our great new features like Accelerators, Web Slices and smarter searching whether or not their site has been updated for Internet Explorer 8.
To take advantage of Compatibility View, download Internet Explorer 8 and start putting the web at your service today.
