This is just one of my Crankbait Tackle boxes. And I want to get into color of crankbaits and why I use certain colors.
At silver like, where I fish a lot, this color here is extremely good. It's a murky, off-colored like, this is a splatter back bandit 100 series, chartreuse side and with blue back. It's got a square-bill and it bangs off the rocks real nice. It dives to about 4-5 feet deep and I have caught several fish, over 7 pounds on this bait.
Early in the morning, this bait works really good because it's visible and that gives me confidence and I fish it better when I think that the fish can see it and I think I get assured of catching a quality fish.
In the spring, sometimes perch colors work real good, especially in Silver Lake. Coral colors work real good in the spring, but chartreuse is it's really good in murky, off-colored water and for quick moving baits. Blue back, chartreuse sides, half of my Crankbaits are like that and another great color is a green.
It's like a Tennessee Shad, it has some awesome color, it works real good in clear water. It works in murky water also but that's a real good bait, midday.
So, just a couple of keys to look at and you want the crankbait to bang into stuff. I like fishing a rock, rip-rap early in the morning and I will take that crankbait right on the edge of the rocks and just ticking the rocks and banging on the rocks. Now, if I hit a rock good, I will pause, let it float up and then I will start up again and get to hit right there a lot of times.
So, that's just a little bit on crankbaits, try it out and let me know what you think. Thanks.
