Hello, You Tube, this is Miro2194, making a video on how to use the live trace and the live color of live pigment in Adobe Illustrator.
So, this picture comes from Adobe Illustrator CS2 and CS3. These features will come. First of all, I will show you my favorite way to do this live trace. So, here in Bridge, select the file we want to trace, click on that and then of the Tools, Illustrator and live trace click on that. A little window will appear a window like this as you can see. Okay, so here it appears as a tracing preset we wanted to be here, we wanted to be default in this case.
Here it says if you want the Vectorize to Layers in Single Document, we do not want that and it would say that Save and Close Results. We also do not want that, so we will deselect that, uncheck that, okay? So that in here in the Document Profile we want the basic RGB and let me select this size for my photo, there you go and okay, there you go.
If you want a printing document just basic CMYK and well I am using a basic RGB just to show you how these works. When you have your settings selected, just hit okay and up in illustrator your file will be modified. So change the threshold into the one you prefer. This is the division for whiter or black. So let me play with this a moment to see some things over here, to get some details with my pictures.
Okay so I am leaving this over a hundred, okay? It is my image. This is one way, now I will show you the other way, you can also do this actually. So open your illustrator again and select the picture we want with the selection tool, only click on it and up you’ll see like options that says Live Trace. Click that and it will live trace as you can see here. Here you can select the pre-set you want over the left in that up menu, the threshold you can also select that, maybe we want a hundred again. Well, this is for the apex of your image, okay? I’m going to close this and open my other image, there you go.
Now, let us say that our background would be like kind of a reddish one, so let me do a thing over here to tell you active, you can use from that on, there you go. Okay, so over here I have my image and if I place it over here, you will see that. Let me do that, okay the new layer drag this to t his layer, okay there you go.
Here, if I drag this over here at the bottom you will see that I loss the background, but selecting this, you can go up in the menu and just but t he side of the presets, there is an option that says, Tracing Options Dialog click on that and you can arrange better your tracing and here there is an option that says ignore what, click on that and hit trace, there you go.
So, you can see here that the white has been ignored and that here it is being at the background, okay? So I will leave the background layer for a moment and now I am going to teach you how to paint this. So in your tools panels select the Live Paint Bucket or just a hot key K. Okay, so there you go. Okay, so when you drag this over here to the top of your image to your trace, just click on it to make it a live paint group.
An advice would say that this will result in not being able to do the live trace form so just hit okay, it does not matter. And once you have done that you can begin painting. For example I would like this to be blue, so one tip I would give you is here you can see that there are three little light colors up off my paint bucket, those are the colors I can select if I move down I can select other colors, if I move to the left, to the right, up that is the different swatches palette and the swatches color I will have in this swatch palette.
Well, so I will be placing this color and this color over here and you can begin like playing with the painting. So this time we want him to be blue, homer blue that would be a nice thing. Let me seek the white one, some light gray eyes. Let us place like a multicolor in his pants, does not look very good, let us just place a green over here, too greenish, too blue, this would be perfect and there you go.
We are going to place him on, let us make him some blue, there you go. So, here is our main image as you can see. It is very cool for example, here we modified it and I will make this image look different. Okay, I will show you how our main image was; okay so, we’ll drag this over here and zoom out a little bit. There you go so here was our first image, now we change it to this image.
You can play around to select the feature you most like, the color you prefer, every thing as you want you know. This was only a thing to tell you how these tools could be used and that kind of stuff. Okay so this is all for now and well, hope you have learned something also that you give a try and see you in the next video. Bye.
