How to Use Multiple Windows in Excel 2007

Excel 2007 makes it really easy to work with multiple windows. Let’s say that you have an Excel spreadsheet and you want to have the same copy of that Excel spreadsheet open as well so you can look at different parts of it. You can compare different parts of it. It comes in handy for you to be able to arrange these windows in a quick and easy way.

So in order to get to this option go ahead and click the view tab and then click on new window and this actually opens another spreadsheet or the same spreadsheet that you have open. Now you can click it multiple times if you want more than two copies open, we’ll just use two for now. And then click on arrange all from the view tab and you’re going to get this arrange windows dialog box.

Okay you have several options for how you want to arrange it. Let’s try some of this out, click on tiled and click OK and you have tiled spread sheets. And let’s try it again, click arrange all, let’s try horizontal, okay horizontal spread sheets and see what vertical does. We have our spreadsheets laid out vertical on the screen and then cascade. We’ll cascade your spreadsheets. Now at any time you can move these around in whatever view that you have you can resize them, whatever you want to do with them to make them look the way that you want them to on your screen.

You also, if you want to hide one of these windows you can keep it open but you could just hide it and you could do that by clicking the hide window button and you could do that by clicking the hide window button, another view tab and it will get rid of one of those. Then click the unhide window if you wish to bring it back and it will give you a choice of which workbook is currently open but is hidden. Select which one you want to unhide and click OK and it will open it back up again. If you come up with an arrangement that you like on your screen you can click the save workspace underneath the view tab and it will bring up the dialog box where you can save your multiple window screen arrangement.
