The Invisible Gardener
Hi, so what we’re going to do is teach you how to treat the raise beds. And I’m going to use my favorite product. I’m going to show you what to do with this because you’re not suppose to put treated wood in here. When you have critters always, it’s very bad and they step on your food, you end up eating it. A pressure treated when I’m using all kinds of chemicals to pressure treated ends up in the food. You end up getting exposed to it.
So, here’s a secret. What you normally do is you use this straight and you put it in the sprayer then you spray it. But, I was just going to show you what citrus does to wood. I’m just going to put a little bit. It soaks in right in. This will treat this wood so that nothing will get at it. Ants, carpenter ants, termites and normally what you do is before you put the bed together, you treat the wood that way. You do it a couple of times, you spray it a couple of times. You spray it straight. It will suck in, right in. Let it dry and spray it again.
This would treat it like forever. It’ll permanently treat this wood and it won’t hurt the rest of the garden. And on top of that, snails will not like crossing over it. Insects will not like crossing it so you can spray it regularly. This is what I do with the outside. I tend to spray with a lots of different things. The citrus is a perfect thing to be spraying on a regular basis with it, just a trick.
