Okay, this is a quick video, hope you have it quick to show you how to get up and running with the Podpress Podcasting Plug in with WordPress. This allows you to record something in an mp3 power format and then add it to your blog, which can be very useful.
Plus it gives you a visitors to your blog in different of experiencing your blogs so they can listen to your post instead of having read it, so it is quite cool.
And, the other point about it is it can get you so extra traffic and switch your back links by submitting it to the different Podcast direct links such as iTunes, and the PodPress plug in does allow that for you automatically because it links in to iTunes so it is very useful.
Anything is automated or is like. This video will be posted on Blogtactics.com and you can go there and find a whole bunch of videos that can setup different things on your blog and helps you optimize it.
The first thing you need to do is to record an mp3 file. You can do this with some free software called audacity. Then you go to sourceforge.net and research for audacity you will find it. It is a free download. So it is free to use.
So, you can install that on your PC and just plug in a microphone to a couple of minutes or five minutes, or have it when you want to. And you then got an mp3 file which you can upload once you have got PodPress installed on your blog.
Okay, the blog I am going to install it on is a new blog of setup MattGarrett.com such a very old domain but I was not using it. First thing you need to do is FTP the software from your local hard disk up to the WP content uploads folder.
So here is the folder and all I need to do is take this drag it and drop it into here. You can see I have already uploaded it. Drag it and drop it into there using FTP software.
If you do not have any FTP software or we do not know how to use it go to Mat4.com there is a link there some free and video to show you how to use it so Mat4.com and just go to the video page.
Let us go back to site and I am already logged on. Once you have uploaded the plug in, you need to go to the plug-ins and activate it. It is called PodPress so just find it in the list and activate it.
There is a few settings we need to have a quick look up the feed, iTunes settings mostly is automatically detected for you. So all we really need to do is put in things like the title called summary iTunes and a blog description.
Okay, so just PodPress and the rest of this is picking up for me automatically. Okay, you may want to validate your feed. Make sure your feed address is correct again, it picks up automatically.
The other bit of settings that we need to go to is PodPress, and choose General settings. This is a tricky bit, you need to make sure you get this right. When you start up with the plug in mix that we will be filling for you this bit went, what we need to do is take this bit here, and copy it and paste it into there.
Now there is a couple of mistakes here. First of all, there is two forward slashes that should only be one. So just delete one of those.
Secondly, there is a space at the end of there when I copied and pasted it. That should not be we need to get rid of that. I would not just yet because I want to show you what that causes. Let us just update the settings here.
And then we could get back right the post. Now let us check if the PodPress plug in is working correctly, because I loaded that mp3 file that should be able to access it for the post.
Okay, the post screen has come up and if we scroll down we have a new box here, the options for Pod Casting. Obviously, that is not expanded just click on the power plus that will be here and then we need to click on add media file…
