Alex: Hi! This is Alex for watchmojo.com. I am going to be talking to you today about Poi. It's a form of juggling, which originated in New Zealand from the Maori people.
Men and women use to do it for flexibility, for strength and exercise and I just thought once before, when I was in France, someone who was just spinning fire in a courtyard and then, I saw it again, on a beach. People were dancing and fire twirling and I want to know, what that was and I just fell in love with it. So then, I just started learning it myself.
Me I practice the staff. I use these Filipino escrima sticks to practice with it and practice techniques for spinning. So you want to kind of get comfortable, just twirling before, you are actually going to practice for fire.
When you want to start practicing with fire, you want to start fire twirling is - what you need is a bucket of water, a fire extinguisher, the damp towel would be good and of course, well, you should have someone to make sure, that you are okay. So a spotter to watch to make sure, everything is going okay.
