Speaker: Another thing you can do is to have positive statements ready to use in tough situations. Some things don't go as we would like at times. So the top athletes learn how to catch themselves when they start thinking negative or bad thoughts and replace these with more positive and productive thoughts.
So here is what you need to do. Think of some situation in your sport where you find yourself thinking negatively.
Speaker1: Following, and when the rest don't see it.
Speaker2: Well, I have to say getting to the bottom of the course, finishing your run and hearing at time thinking you did alright and then finding out you didn't do very well at all.
Speaker3: It's really hard because they following you and others shouldn't see it.
Speaker4: We are not losing and sometimes when I'm making a lot of errors even if I have winning.
Speaker5: You want to do well, but you just have-you haven't had the practice with that strength to do as well as you want to do. So you might mess up but it's just as follows, or following like how important event, I normally do that.
Speaker6: When I'm receiving hope and I miss, then I'll think it more negatively or I make a bad pass, I will just think that my teammates are going to be made at me.
Speaker7: At my last meet, that which was in Florida, I completed three meter and I did a not so good dive, because I spotted the air instead of the water and so there is my last one so I just said, oh! I gave it my all; I made a mistake, so hope for the best.
Speaker: So the first step is to identify these situations where you think negative. Once you identify them, think of some type of stop signal. It could be a stop sign, the color red, you mom saying stop. Anything that signals stop to you. As soon as you start to experience any of those negative thoughts you identified, call up your stop signal.
Then, after you've done that you need to replace the negative thoughts with more realistic, productive ones. For example, if you strike out and start thinking I stink. Why do I even try? You might say, okay, relax; keep my eye on the ball all the way in. Or if you start thinking, running these helves is going to kill me, see red and then save yourself. This will be tough so remember to stay relaxed and keep my arms pumping.
