Why not take a bit of the mystery out of it and tell them what they are getting their hands around because it is only two windows.
Brett:
This makes it the easiest software to get your hands around because it really only has two windows. The first window we have is edit window. If you come up here to Windows and say, “show mix”, it shows your mix window. There is nothing in the next window yet because have not uploaded any tracks.
Bob:
That is part of our set up

What we are going to do, we are going up to file, new tracks, and we are going to tell it how many tracks we want.
I know you like to use a whole lot of tracks. So, are going to start by putting in ten tracks of audio.
Bob:
As we had mentioned earlier, this medium have almost unlimited tracks.
Brett:
Exactly, it is really only limited by your Pro Tools hardware and how big you want to make your Pro Tools System completely customizable.
Bob:
It looks an old-style console.
Brett:
Doesn’t it
Bob:
Very much so. Can I do this?
Brett:
They do make control services. They do allow you to do that. But we can do that with mouse, so that they will keep as nice and simple and explain it to me with the mouse. But as you see, click around and we are in, just like old times
Brett:
So, we have played out some tracks. The next thing we will do is create a master fader. We will essentially do the same thing. We are going to file, new tracks, and instead of a mono audio track, we are going to create stereo master fader. Now a little bit of a quicker hint to do, should I let them on the secret?
Bob:
I think so.
Brett:
There is a much quicker way to do that. I am going to file, new tracks, as we remember. There is quicker way to do it that will improve your work flow. (Demonstration) The same thing comes up, which allows us to create tracks.
What I have essentially just done is clued you in on the key strokes of Pro Tools, which are small key strokes controlled by the keyboard that let you work a lot quicker.
Bob:
It just moves it right along.
Brett:
Exactly, so there is going to be whole download section of somebody’s keyboard shortcuts at iconsofrock.com. That is going to be really helpful. Use them. Bob and I use them all the time. They will cut down the time it takes you to get around Pro Tools, literally by 50%. So, we really encourage that.
