Hello and welcome to our first REVIT MEP 2008 demonstration video here. In this CADclip, what we are going to do I have got my six points written down here inside of the basic project file. What we are talking about is just introducing and kind of doing a demo on using REVIT MEP to layout an HVAC system, air supply system.
So, what we are going to do is we are going to do six different main things here. We are going to link in an architectural model because we want to use the architectural rooms because really the rooms drive the whole thing. Then once we link in the architectural model, we are going to copy the architectural levels. We are going to synchronize our phases very quickly and then we are going to get what we want. We will be able to copy the rooms from the linked architectural model. Then we are just going to simply run an IES heating and cooling load calculation to get the CFMs that we need to know for the room or space that we are talking about. And then, I am going to add in some air terminals, some diffusers and put in VAV fan unit inside of there. And then, I am going to create a logical system between the diffusers and the VAV unit and then after I create the logical system, I will simply create the physical duct system and then we will have a look at it.
So, I am just going to start by clicking on my notes and delete that. Now, I am just in a basic file inside of here in REVIT and what I am going to do is link in an architectural model. So I am going to go up to the top and go file import, I am going to link a REVIT file. In my folder here, I am going to link in a file RME demo architectural file and it is just an architectural building with a couple of floors and some rooms inside of there and I am going to use origin to origin when I link in that architectural model. I can also go back later and do the reverse that link my mechanical stuff back to this architectural model and see the other end of it, which is kind of neat.
So after I linked in that, the first thing I want to do is just go in and copy some levels, and then do a little bit of work with some phases in our copy monitor.
I am just going to go to a south view. I can go to a 3D view. There is my architectural model here that I have linked inside. I am going to go to a south view. I am going to zoom in a little bit. Use my copy monitor tools because I want to get to the rooms. That is what I want. So I am going to go tools, copy monitor, select the link, I am going to pick on this architectural link. First thing I am going to do is go into my options, inside of there go to rooms, simply change my phases so that my phases are linked up or synced up I should say with the phases from the link so that is done. Hit OK on that and OK just below and I am done.
Now, I am going to use the copy tool and I am going to copy in the levels. I am going to copy in level one, I am going to copy in level two, I am going to copy in level three. I could also use the multiple option. After I copy in the levels and I have synced up my phases, now, I can go to say a mechanical level one and I can just say copy rooms. It is going to say OK, five rooms were copied from the previous model. You do not have to pick the rooms. You do not have to do anything. It now copies those rooms.
So, now I have these rooms and that is where all the good information is from the architectural model. I have my rooms on my first floor, and I also have one big room on my second floor and there is my room from below because that one has a high ceiling in that space over there. So, just my different rooms that I have copied in. So I say finish that and I am done the initial part of setting up my structure or my MEP model inside of here.
Now, what I am going to do is I am going to just run some heating and loading calculations because I am dealing with this space over here and I want to know the airflow for that particular room that is required. So I am going to go down here under more tools and I am going to go heating and cooling calculations and inside of there I can see my 3D model. I can
