This one is on how to install SopCast, SopCast is a P2P for watching movies or live sports events, even pay-per-views sometimes. So how to install it’s a—first you need a Mplayer, add and remove and just, you know check in player. And after you install that, you need to install this one also, SopCast. There’s a 32-Bit version but if you have 64 just watch my other videos on how to install it. And then you have to install this program, this is the back end for SopCast.
So what you need to do is download this thing, and you need to extract it, you need to extract this one. Just want to—just pull it out and it will be in your desktop. This will be the file right? This is the file that will be extracted, and then what you’re going to do with that file is, I’m going to use the terminal and then you’re going to type in sudo CP for copy, and then you’re going to drag that one in here. And then you want to send it to slash user or USR—and then you want to rename it to SP dash SC, you want to—yeah this is what you want type in. You’re going to send it there and then rename it to that, and just execute it and type in your password.
So when that’s done, now you’re going to start up SopCast. You go to applications and sound and video and you see GSopCast, this is the front end and you just installed the back end already so you have both. Now what the program, it looks like something like this when you open it. And this is the channels, they loads up. Sometimes the channels do not load up because their servers down or something, and that’s okay. See this is the channel URL, this URL’s down, you will not see a channel list. To give you—on all the channels, you can Google of course more channels but this are all the default channels that they have.
So make sure you have this set to that though if it’s anything else, and you see the player we’ll use Mplayer, so just leave that there. And how to use this is—all you do is find the channel you want, I’m going to use this one, and this is Discovery Channel, as you can see over here it’s says Discovery Channel. No National Geographic I mean, this is Discovery Channel. So I’m just going to use National Geographic then, let me see what else they have in here. You can see there’s—these are SopCast’s address, you can use those to manually put it in, and put it in this bar down here, see this bar, and then you just launch, it’s the same deal. But okay, not to the channels right?
All you’ve got to do is double click on it, and as you see right here, it says connecting right? And you see something like this, right it says 31 peers and I’ll keep going, because these are P2P and this is kind of a buff, okay so you see these are the buffering like kind of thing I guess. And after that you’ll see the video, it opens in your Mplayer, and you just watch it. You can go full screen if you want Mplayer. Just push “F” or just maximize it if you like. And that’s how you get channels to work in SopCast.
