Welcome to PC Wiz Kid’s Tech Talk, if you are using Windows XP or Vista you can use the system restore to get you system falls back if your system is corrupted. In XP here I’ve got the system restore under accessories and then system tools in the menu. In Vista just types restore and start menu search box. Now the screens are similar, the main idea here is to either create a checkpoint or restore a checkpoint okay. So, these checkpoints can be scheduled or you can it manually, I liked to do in manually in myself. So let’s create a restore point so that we can save our system falls. And then click on next here and put in the name for that restore so, you want to do this before you do a major change. Maybe you can upgrade some drive or to see we can adhere, PC or you can upgrade and install a game or something major that put potentially do something and your machine might not working board right.
So do this checkpoint so that way you can restore from it later on like in safe mode, you can boot in to safe mode and then do a restore okay. So if you create this checkpoint click on create there and then if will create that for you. It will give you a confirmation of the date and time and main that you just used okay. So there you go you can always go back and restore from any of this checkpoint that you created in the past okay. Now the other option that I mentioned here is you can restore a checkpoint okay. So let’s just say that your machine is down or something do not working right and you want to restore from a previous date. So, when you go to that first option and by the way in the windows it’s the same thing, the screen might look a little bit different but it’s the same.
Here is the Vista screen, okay you can restore from the most recent or you can choose the different restore point. In this case here is the list I’ve got one restore point right there and if I go back in time I could navigate and find previous restore points that choose from okay. Obviously, if you want to restart the latest most recent working version of the restore point you choose that one. If you’ve allocated more space to the system restore then you can get a longer list of different dates that it did checkpoints. Once you’ve chosen it and you’ve store it you will get a confirmation message here that will restore is complete and then that’s it, restart your computer and hopefully it fix your issues at your PC. Thank you for watching.
