How to Use Twitter Easily
Hey guys, this is Matt from KA Social Media and today I’m going to begin my video series my first thing on Twitter. I just had a lot of friends and family who I’ve heard about Twitter but they were kind of afraid to begin Twitter or where to start or what to do or what they were suppose to do on the first day. And so what I want to do is I want to just take you through a little bit about what Twitter is, how it functions, what is following mean, what are followers, what are re-tweets, what are @replies, all that stuff just kind of try to make it simple for you guys because I’ve been using twitter now for a couple of months and I really enjoy it and I think it’s something that’s once you get into it and much you get the hang-up it’s pretty simple to use but like I said I just have a feeling there’s a lot of people that have kind of this fear to jump into it.
So the first thing you will do is you're going to go to Twitter.com and it’s going to bring you to this page. This is kind of the opening page in twitter. What I really like about twitter is that they try to keep everything pretty simple and pretty user-friendly. So what you’re going to do is you’re going to come up here and let’s say after we get you and then sign up and you have your username and password you’re going to comeback to this website and you’re going to put in your username and email there in the same time you can put in your password there. And then like any other site, if you forget your password or you forget your username or if you’re already using twitter on your phone, they can help to sync out with that. And so that’s kind of step one as we’re looking around again you can search for what people are saying about. If you want to search something like right now and I’ll kind of get through the topics below. But right now, the Olympics are going on, today is Tiger Woods gave its big speech. So if you want to see what people are saying you can type in into the search bar right there.
Over here is button that we’ll get too later and that’s the sign up now button. Down here also is something you just keep in mind, these are kind of popular topics which people are talking about and it’s actually quote Twitter has a way to update those. And as you can see these are popular topics happening right now. Shutter Island is a brand new movie that’s coming out—they just came out today and so people are really talking about it, they’re excited about it. Down here, like I said earlier, these are popular topics from today where these ones were right now, these are today. So earlier today, like I said Tiger Woods Lebron had a game tonight, Johnny Weir, Evan Lysacek the figure skaters and stuff like that because the Olympics are going on right now as well. And this right here is popular topics from the past week, it is Valentine’s Day last week, Shaun White had a huge snowboarding thing so it’s just people—what people are talking about and twitter is really get it at being able to see that was kind of thing.
So the next step you’re going to do is you’re going to do come over here and you’re going to hit sign up now. And then this is going to ask you some easy sign up questions. And I’m going to sign up for my fiancé her name is Susan Bill and so as you can see, once you type in your name over here, it says, okay so that means that that’s okay, and they approve your name. Now, the username is something that you really have to think about. It’s going to be a unique name, it’s going to be something that is easy for you to remember and b is easy for other people to remember. This is something that you’re going to tell people, you’re going to say, hey, follow me on twitter, my name is this. So for this, I'm just going to use Susan’s name and then as you can see over here that the username is already taken. So something that you can add since it is KA Social Media I can do something like KA Susan Bill. And then see over here where it says okay so that means that that one is okay, KA Susan Bill. It’s kind of easy to remember, you just say KA Susan Bill, KA Social Media kind of rhymes together.
Now, password is something that you’re going to want to try to remember, it’s the normal one you used. And so I’m going to put in one here that she always uses and then over here you see that it’s good. As long as it is good then you’re okay. The emails, the next thing you want to put in so her email is Susan@kasocialmedia.com. And then you’re going to get a confirmation email with that. And then this button right here let others find me by my email address, I’m going to put on there just incase somebody runs into her and she passes out of business card. And as you can see this email is already taken because I signed up for—so I’m just going to do Susan1@kasocialmedia. And then typed the words above is—just a catchy things that’s surgery, that’s octette and then here’s your terms of service that I’ve already through this but I recommend you read through them.
And then down here, all you have to do is decide if you want inside scoop and those are just the twitter normal stuff and then create my account.
