Okay guys, I have some interesting things here with windows vista that might help your performance for the smoothness of your operating system. So, the first thing that I’m going to suggest that you do here is go and turn off something called offline files. If you have not already done this then you can go to the start menu for control panel and then you should see offline files in here. Double click on that. Now, I’ve already disabled mine. But if yours were enabled then we would click, I think it’s about here, disable offline files.
It’s going to speed up your boot time and I sure to put that in the other video I made that explored the MS config command but I didn’t so—well, it’s on this one. But that should help unless you knew it. Offline files these are new ones. So, I would suggest you disable that. Second, let’s go and open up mouse properties and that’s from the control panel too. Now, I’ve got a different driver here by that so you probably have the same one or similar but in here if you don’t know what’s here you can adjust your pointers, put different schemes in here, the speed of how fast your mouse moves and that’s not very fast, I can’t get anything done with that. So, let’s go and click that to about there and then you could snap too. I don’t like that. If you check that box and a window pop up comes up like MS config or even run, see how my mouse went right through the OK button so I don’t have to move it around all the time. I like that. And then all the way to bottom show a location or pointer when I hit the control key and if you can see there they kind of it comes out around so you’re not looking for your mouse all the time.
Third thing, it is going to be the network control center which is also in the control panel. There it is, open that up. And then you see in here and I’m connected to build in speed N, N is the frequency of my router. And in here I would suggest to make it a private network if you can. Next, you could rename it in there and then there’s whole bunch of pictures here then if you go to start network you can see the other computers on your network so I think that on my HP.
So, it’s good to mess around in there and then autopoint. A lot of people don’t like it but I really do. So, get that by going to start menu and typing auto and then there it is on your program. It should be the first thing and then here you could choose what windows does when you insert certain devices or things like IO files, pictures, software’s and games. It’s good to customize something in there. And then one really big thing in windows vista that helps a lot is index options. So, go to start type in index and here it is, click that, the first one under program. Now, the bottom goes to the modified tab and here I would say you uncheck offline flies and check the drives you want. I don’t think my SD card is not there but unlike your hard drive and nay other drive that you want to put index then go to advance you can check on e of the box that you’ve feel necessary been rebuild and OK. It will take a couple of seconds depending on how bad it was. You’re going to notice that your index thing does a lot faster which is great. So, that’s a great thing to do.
And another interesting thing we look at is reliability and performance monitor. Go to the start menu and type in Reli and then hit enter, that will open up the reliability center and in the left if you see reliability monitor under your performance monitor, click on your reliability monitor and you can see your system stability from zero to 10 and it rates it on like if your computer has—if you killed it, if you got VSO failed, the stop growth failed like virtual PC failed went down from a—stop working so it went down but it’s good to look around in there. Also, run disc defragmenter and disk cleanup often, you’d be surprised what you get and how it could really speed up your system.
Now, this is going to probably be part one of two of this video so if I do make a part two please look at that and thanks for watching part one.
