How to Use a Consultant to help with University Admissions
Derek Meeker: Hi there my name is Derek Meeker and I’m Senior Law School Consultant for Admissions Consultants, a consulting firm for aspiring college business, medical, graduate and law school applicants.
Today, I’m going to be answering some questions about law school admissions process. But before we get started let me tell you a little bit about myself, prior to becoming a consultant I was the Dean of Admissions for the University of Pennsylvania Law School, I also work as an I also work as an Assistant Director for William Mitchell College of Law in St Paul, Minnesota have a total of nine years of experience in law school admissions so I can definitely do you some inside information on the process.
I received Majors Doctor from Capitol University in Columbus, Ohio and my bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the higher University. I also work as an Assistant, Attorney General for the City of Ohio and as a legislative aid in the Ohio Senate. So why don’t we now get started on the law school admission process.
Host: How can a consultant help me with my applications?
Derek Meeker: Well there are many ways that a consultant can help you with your application. The first is a consultant will help you assess your general strengths weaknesses and the admissions process and the consultant will help you to determine the best way to convey and communicate your strengths and perhaps the best way to mitigate what the weaknesses might be if there any and a consultant can also help you identify what would be the best target schools for you both in terms of your competitiveness and in terms of what might be the best fit for you given what your goals and priorities are.
Consultant can also help you formulate the topic ideas for your personal statement and proof read your essays a consultant can help you determine who would be the best people to write your letters and recommendation and a consultant can help you put together the resume for law school because it is a different type of resume that what you would submit for a job, the consultant is also there basically to advise and council you through the entire admissions process.
