Brad: Hi! I am Brad from Franklin, Wisconsin. How long should my girlfriend wait after sex to take out her diaphragm? Dr. Susann Clifford: Brad, we would like your girl friend to keep the diaphragm in for at least six hours after intercourse. The reason for this is that the sperms' life span will continue after intercourse during this time and the spermicide that is used in concert with the diaphragm will help to prevent pregnancy during that time span.
