Hey everybody, Eric Stromer here. If you have a tremendous amount of drywall to finish and you don’t feel like spending an enormous amount of time sanding, a great option for you is to use a hopper with thinned out of drywall mud so that you can create a very mild texture on any drywall service you so desire.
You can rent it for about $65.00 a day or buy one for roughly the same price. Also, you need a compressor. If you don’t have one, you can rent it. You just simply plug it in to the end of this mechanism here. There is an on and off valve. You dial in pressure and you can emulate any texture that you might have in your preexisting drywall.
Now for our purposes, we pre-prime this wall gray so you can see the drywall mud spraying on that wall. But generally, it’s recommended that you pre-prime before you put texture or paint on any wall surface.
All you have to do is put your drywall mud right on the top of the hopper and thin it out with water a little bit of roughly the texture of pancake butter. And it’s very, very simple to operate. Let me show you how it works.
You just turn that pressure on, stand back about 18 inches and start spraying a texture. You can put as much or as little on the wall depending on what kind of texture you want to emulate. I’m Eric Stromer, go on, get yourself a hopper.
