HOW TO USE A LASER LEVEL
Dean: Hey, I'm Dean.
Derrick: And I'm Derrick, and we are from DIY Networks Indoors Out.
Dean: And we’re going to show you how to use a laser level.
Derrick: Now laser levels are used for larger projects to help you figure out the grade from driveways, patios, walkways you can even used them in landscaping.
Dean: That’s true. Have you ever driven down the road and see those trees that were perfectly straight? Chances are they used the laser level.
Derrick: And laser level range in price from $400.00 to about $1,700.00. You can also rent one for about 75 boxes a day, and a laser level kit comes in a tripod, a laser level, a measuring rod that has increments of inches and feet marked on it, and a receiver.
Dean: The first step is make your tripod and laser, set it up inches high a little away from the worksite, and make sure it never ever moves again.
Derrick: That’s good advice Dean. Then what you want to do is take the measuring rod and put that at the starting point of your project, the starting grate. For example, “will the patio would meet the step?” You’re going to move your receiver up the rod until you hear a consistent keeping sound. Lock that in, that’s where the laser and the measuring rod, our level.
Dean: After you find the starting point you want to go to your end point and you move the rod up and down until you get that continuous beep. That will tell you what to dig out, or what to put in. Now if you follow these simple tips, you can never make a mistake.
Derrick: No.
