Hello everybody! Today I’m going to talk to you about mixers, and I don’t mean software for your computer. I mean, real mixers.
I have here a Pyramid PR-2700 Mixer that I’ve had for a few years. Never really could it until–to good use still, I started streaming and I have to say it does the job. Now you may ask, why do I have wanted an actual physical mixer. Well, here’s the question, do you stream? Do you broadcast? Do you do videos? With mixers, such as this one, you can mix all your audio, you can even DJ with it, it has a Crossfader.
Control such as frequency equalizer like your bass and treble but more of var boost controllers. Master slides, this one has five inputs, well actually it’s 10, one, two, three, four, five and then I could switch between other inputs and outputs. So like, if one line isn’t being used for the slider, I can switch to the other one, it goes to this slider. So it’s actually 10 inputs but I can only five at the same time. It has an XLR jack for–if you have like an XLR microphone and a quarter inch at the back, such as another one up here for monitoring. These things are awesome to have because right there in front of you, you have total sound control.
Now you can this off of eBay for a pretty cheap price. This is probably worth about maybe a $40 or $50 because its use. I’ve seen other models like this online for about 50 or 60 bucks. You can get ones that are–as expensive like mixers that are you know. So expensive like $10,000. But if you want a nice entry level one, maybe you get a Pyramid one. Maybe you find this model on eBay, I’ve seen on there before.
This one has–it’s all mostly RCA connectors at the back, through my computer, because my computer is hooked up two mixer as well as my microphone. A computer output has a mini-jack so I just used one of these converters right here, when you jack to RCA. The plug is right in to the back of the mixer and then the output of it is RCA which goes out into my stream computer, the line input on it and it set and then I have my controls and everything here.
Mixers allow you to control your sound a lot better and I think a physical one is a lot better than any software. Because it’s right there, it’s instant. You don’t have to worry about latency issues or anything, they’re nice to have because you can–you know you have all these sources of audio going in, like music and what not. And then you split it out to one output so you can mix your audio from your computer, your microphone. So if you’re in a studio or what not, and you’re singing, you know, you mix your audio right there. It’s awesome and it’s a way to go.
Check out eBay for some mixers. I can’t tell you which ones are the best because all mixers will get the job done. This is a low end Pyramid mixer, which sounds awesome if you’ve listen to my YouTube videos. This is the mixer I used through here, so if I bring this slider down here, you won’t be able to here me. And I bring it back up, again you can. And this one is from my computer and this one is from my out of the computer and then my other external sound card and so on.
And you mix it all in everything and then you just have the controls, break there for you. It’s awesome. There are all kinds of mixers you can get. There is higher and lower end, if you use Google, you can actually learn which ones are more higher than others. So I just want to show you that this is what I do for all my audio, is I use a mixer. So when I play music or what not, on a stream or my videos, it all goes through here. And that’s it.
And mixers are really easy to use. This one has a VU meter that if I you know did a close up, you’ve actually see it moving while I’m talking. And then, my monitor out as I mentioned, so I can monitor different sources. So if I have a certain mix going to the master output which goes to the stream or you know live output, I can listen to another channel input so I can listen to that before you know to queue it up before it goes live. And it does have the fader and everything so you could actually DJ with this.
Great to have this mixer board has a–lasted me a long time, I have gotten it upgrade. But right now, just works. Wherever I need to do, I’m not–the mixer was given to me. So check out eBay, you know check out some sound stores around. If you got the budget, get a mixer because you won’t be sorry, and any mixer will work because all you need to do is really get adaptors. If you RCA, get your RCA adapters. If you have XLR and what not, you can go to a music store or electronic store and you can usually buy adaptors. Or get them–buy them in bulk on eBay, they’re pretty cheap. And then you go from there, you have your mixer, easy to control, right down in there.
