Male 1: Arugula from New Zealand, main island. She came to me last… She just got here last night. She wanted… she goes… “There are so much netals. These people must love it.”
Then I have said to her, “Well, you got to realize that they have a good attitude about netals than most of us.”
Then I realized, most of the world, people who know netals consider it an amazing feeling herb. And it is only here, you know, in all the places in Europe that consider them a noxious weed. Then it is really important, anywhere, any noxious weed that you have around you is rare somewhere. And the it is really important to remember that, instead of thinking of it as noxious weed, just think of it as you know, an incredibly abundant friend who is trying to remind you of something. And you know, if I could do any, one thing today is to shift, well, it seems that most of you are enthusiasts about wild plants anyway so I do not have to do much work on that but to get you to realize that this should be the national food of England. Really, I mean, it is amazing that there is valued percent of non-nutrition people around. And you know, it is ironic, you know that there is just many people around the world now who are malnutrition as there are people who are under-nutrition. Very fat people who are not getting nutrients in their body, and they are…I am taking myself ones you know or whatever. But this plant, if you look at the nutrients of this plant, half a page of what is in it. It is incredible.
And , when I first heard of this plant, it was in a reference to an amazing saint from Tibet named Milarepa And Milarepa would only sing to people and sings in this couplets. And I had about a one hundred thousand lines of his singing. I wonder if we could do that. See if we sang about his paces to netal, that would be really beautiful.
When he would go retreated like 15,000 feet or 5000 meters up in the mountains. He would only consume netals for weeks and weeks at a time and that is why he has green glove. Have you ever seen a picture of him? His skin is green. He has green gloves too, stylistic hmm. I have not, I eat a lot of netals but I have my comforts not yet.
Male 2: We are looking facedly.
Male 1: Yeah, keep trying. And so, wow! Incredible being. And I guess what maybe prompt me to come over here and be next to them is that, once you really learn about them, you do not want to get rid over this thing. I am actually kind of addicted to the sting now. I mean, I have an upper limit of like 300 stings or something. But I, you know, I think, because you realize that those netals right there when they are injecting into you, they are putting seven neuro-transmitters into your body like Saratonin, Acido Colin, Colin and brain food is being injected into you body.
Male 2: Sush—
(laughter)
Male 2: Sorry mate. Such!
(laughter)
Male 1: It is like feeding you with such amazing energy that is coming into your body.
Make 2: I’m seeing the light!
Male 1: Mission of the holy religion on this huh!
Male 2: It is good for the arthritis.
Male 1: Well yeah, it is true. It is good for that. But you hear this thing and it is really important that when you hear this what, like, “Dandelion makes a good coffee substitute” and stuff like that. Those are just one line. They are really stereotyping you know. And usually those are like, they are true often but they are like a subset of really the important stuff around that. So just to say, I mean, the thing is, this herb needs to be consumed regularly by everybody who is around it. The reason it is here and so prolific and it is saying, “Hey! All you English people you need me, you know and here is where I am” And so if people start bringing it in their diet in every way, you know, being stung, I’m sure it helps not the arthritis but any kind of inflammation. For instance, last year I was working in the kitchen and I lifted a pan that was too big and kind of strained my wrist here. And so it was really swollen and inflamed. So I think that is kind a like a traffic jam and healing energies cannot get there, the toxins cannot get out, and so it just is all crazy. So by earthiphication which is a whole term. This is erthica, it is genus, earthication is applying the erthica to you. It is a whole herbal term. Excuse me. And it is called a rubophase and it brings all the stuff to the surface and kind a clears out that traffic jam and wiles everything to flow. And it really-really helps it. It healed this wrist probably twice as fast as it would have healed on its own. So it is really good any kind of congested, sprain ankle, crick in the neck kind of thing, really can help with that. So keep that in mind, the nutrients are amazing, I mentioned that, it has a medicinal uses of being like allergy, it helps with allergies. You can make teas a bit for that.
But this is, you know, it is a little late but you can always find under trees or new growth coming up is younger ones. Ones it comes to flower and to seed, you do not really want to go after the leaves quite so much. For one time, but in terms of harvesting for the winter, this is a good time. It would have been better a month or so ago but, and you are getting a second round of them coming up
Male 2: When you say harvest for the winter, you can actually store it. Is it not?
Male 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Like we were drinking, this is kind a cute, we were drinking the tea that I have harvested in last year at the school. And I thought it is in school, yeah but it was kept alive, but yeah, you want to harvest ahead. That is a part of being a good wild forger is knowing, “Oh, this is a time for this and this is what we need to do.” As a community is being more conscious of, hey! The apples are coming in, it is time to do it now so we could be eating, you know, apple products through the winter. And so everything has its peak and if we anticipate that peak then we can glean that peak and carry it forward into the future. So—
