iMovie is the free video editing program that comes on a Mac when you buy it. It’s also one of the easiest video editing programs I’ve ever seen. The designers of iMovie created a simple, intuitive, drag-and-drop program that is handy for novices who want a nice look but don’t want to bother learning a complex video editing program. Everything you need for basic video editing is right here.
iMovie sticks with the basics and it is all drag-and drop. The space bar on your keyboard access the play button. Music, photos, and other media are all easily imported from other programs on your hard drive. iMovie provides easy access links into the other programs and all the software is 100% in grader automatically. Another handy feature, iMovie comes with a built in library of professionally recorded sound effects that are easy to add to your movie. To add titles, pick which look you want out of the several template provided and type in whatever words you want.
I have always been a big fan of Apple products, and I think final cut they are high dollar professional editing system is the most fantastic video editing software on the planet. However, final cut takes a while to learn, iMovie doesn’t and that all boils down to simplicity. In final cut you have control over every tiny aspect of each clip or title. The color, the size, the position, everything. In iMovie, you have to be satisfied with the templates.
If you are looking for an easy video editing software program iMovie is another fantastic reason to leave the PC behind. iMovie knocks the sacks up when does movie maker in terms of these views. And I like windows movie maker, I don’t think it is a bad program at all, but iMovie is just really killer, and if you are looking for simple basic video editing I don’t think you can find anything better.
