How to Use the Cymbals

The different cymbals are used for different purposes. This is the high-hat cymbal. It is used for keeping time. This is the right cymbal. It is used in the same way as the hi-hat as well for keeping time. Aside from keeping time, we might want to create accents and those are created by the crash cymbals, the splash cymbal, and the China cymbals. There are other different gadgets in cymbals we can use for accenting but they’re not necessary. As well for keeping time, we can use a Cowbell which gives a completely different sound from any of the cymbals. We can always use a little more Cowbell. We have to tailor our drum sets to suit the needs of our own bodies. I have my snare drums that are slightly above my legs. My legs are somewhat apart so they can be balanced to about 90 degrees to the floor. Everything is within easy reaching distance of my sticks. I don’t have to reach out really far or do any kind of crazy acrobatics to reach anything.
