In this clip on advance billiards, I’d like to show you how to make a two-rail kick using a simple diamond system. Take a look at the shot that my opponent has left me in. My opponent is shooting high balls, I’m shooting low. All of his balls have surrounded my cue ball. If you look down at the end of that corner, you’ll see the 8 ball, that’s the only ball I have left to get in. Now, how can I use the diamond system to get this cue ball to rails and sink the 8 ball? Well, let’s take a look.
First thing to know on the system is that I need to count on the short rail and I count beginning in the pocket. Now because the short rail is exactly half the length of the long rail, I count by the half diamonds. So the first one is one, in the pocket, two, halfway between the one in the first diamond, three, four, five, six, seven. These numbers never change. Now, I look at my cue ball location and I have to find the difference between the cue ball and the ball I want to hit along the rail. My 8 ball starts at zero so this is always zero on my object ball. One diamond, now we’re counting by full diamonds at this point because we’re on the long rail, two, three, four, five diamonds. There is a correlation between this five diamond and the number five on the short rail. My cue ball is not on that line, I’m going to shift over and find my spot and that’s my target point on the sort rail. Let’s see if it works. And that’s how you use short rail two system to win your game of 8-ball.
