We are about to have the greatest fun we have ever had. I am not going to say this, you go to file open, I have been looking for this lesson for a long time. This is a good one folks, I am going to select sculpture to liquefy. And let us go ahead and hit open and we have a couple sculptures they are absolutely gorgeous, so elegant and beautiful and pristine. And we going to just ruin this statues.
What we are going to do is examine a filter that will allow us to go in and re-sculpt. So what better way to practice this feature that on sculptures, so I an going to go to filter and we will see here in this top area liquefy. This top area of the filter menu is meant for big plug ins like liquefy and vanishing point. These other little ones down here that we have been using are smaller programs where as liquefy and those other here are definitely more robust and they are more feature heavy as well.
So I am going to select liquefy and the concept of liquefy is just that, that are image is liquid and we are basically just reshaping this liquid. And I am going to use my left bracket here to hold own and decrease the size of my brush. So what, is that small enough to about there and again this is artistic so whatever you want it to be, I am going to make sure that this top button is selected and that is the forward warp tool. And basically you could use this tool to that grab on areas and tog on it, reshape them. So I am going to go to a beautiful precious elegant nose and let says she has told a few lies in her day and they are now catching up with her.
So we are just going to grab this sculpted nose and kind of pull it out a little bit. And we can go to her eyes and raise them a little bit like so, we pull this one down, maybe she is not super happy that we are playing with her sculpture there and actually let us give her a little devious smile there. Let us just click and drag, re-sculpting this, nice little joker smile there, beautiful. Now I am going to make this bigger and now when I warp I will warp bigger areas. So let us say we are going to give her the old Jay Leno treatment here and pop that out a little bit. Let me tuck this back in, oh that is starting to look really cool.
Now let us go ahead and there are some tools I want to talk about that help us as we are liquefying, one of them is the pucker tool. And as you click it and area will shrink around your cursor. Good for making beady the lies like that, oh awesome, underneath is the opposite of the pucker tool the bloat tool. That makes things bigger and more puffy. So if you want to puff our cheeks or puff out her forehead a little bit we can do that here. You would see a lot in the curls here as I am puffing that out you could see that in the curls.
What you do the statue is totally up to you, the flexibility is yours and so is the fun. Now this does have the utilitarian purpose as well. I honestly use liquefy all the time when I am sending out pictures of myself to professional places. I am kind of a fat guy, I got several extra chins that I do not need and so typically what I will do is I will go in here with like the warp tool or something and let us pretend this is a few extra layers of fat on me that I do not. I can go ahead and just drag this in and kind of pretend that I have a smaller neck.
Now I would not want to crow neck like this but you get the idea that this does have some utilitarian benefits as well. There are some pixels that are just kind of in the way, you can kind of scoot them over and nudge them and play with them a little bit. But, also at the same time it is really fun to just absolutely destroy pictures of your friends or other innocent people that are not aware that you have their photo’s. it is just a great tool to play with.
Now, one thing I should tell you real quickly is that there is this reconstruct tool, so if you ever get to the point where you have messed up something a little bit too much. Say for example the neck here or if your conscience starts getting to you, you can go a ahead and click on these areas and it will restore those pixels that you clicked on back in to the way they were before you started adjusting with the liquefy tool. So I could click on just the edge of that nose here, it is a little bit – there we go so we start restoring a little bit of that nose very good.
So in a nut shell this is liquefy, I am just going to go ahead and hit cancel here and now let us move along to talk about some great distortion effects.
