The metal pedal is called the sostenuto pedal. It also has something to do with the dumpers. For example, now when I play a chord as I play, now with my foot on the dumper let’s take notes of what’s happening at the dumpers. I play on the chord and then now I step on the pedal. When I release, you know that all this dumpers of the notes that I previously played will elevated and only this 3-R nothing more, all of the others are at risk. When I release my pedal, those three dumpers that were elevated, they send back. I will try again. I play a chord. Now I step on the middle sostenuto pedal are released. All four notes, all four dumpers will elevate but were now going to be release when I let go of the pedal.
What is the used of this? The purposes occasionally, we just want to selectively elevate certain dumpers to allow vibration, but not the full keyboard. So, now we can selectively choose which dumpers we want to be raise. So, for example like if I can’t reach my hands from playing this in here, I can play, I step on the pedal, hold this key and I play.
Now I try again, another one. I hold these dumpers, I hold and I can hold all these notes now.
