Next, we are going to talk a little bit about the zooming functionality. Now, the zooming functionality enables you to either magnify your spreadsheet or make the spreadsheet smaller. Now, you would not think that zooming would be something that will help you move around in your data set or in your spreadsheet but there are actually some pretty trick that you can do in order to help leverage the zooming functionality to help you move around.
First, let us talk a little bit the zooming functionality. The basic of zoom is essentially this, I can click on the Zoom button in the View Tab and this activates the Zoom Dialog Box. With this dialog box, you can specify a percentage of magnification. For example, if you want to zoom smaller, you can simply click any one of the number smaller than 100%. So, I will zoom to 50% and I will press okay. So now, the spreadsheet on my screen is showing at 50% of normal magnification. To get this back to normal, all I would do is simply make the100% button here on the zoom group.
In order to make something bigger or to zoom in, I would simply select the zoom button and select the magnification as larger than 100%. Now, the only one who listed here to 200%, if I press okay, it will magnify to 200%. Now, let us say I do not want 200%, I want to magnify at 110%. Well, you can do that by using a custom magnification. Let us go ahead and zoom back down to 100% and then I will click the Zoom button. What I will do is click the custom button here and in this custom input box, I can simply type in the magnification that I want to zoom and now, my spreadsheet is at 110% of normal magnification.
I just zoomed back to 100%. Let us talk about how this can help you. Let us say you want to get to the bottom of your spreadsheet fairly quickly. Well, instead of scrolling down, you can simply zoom out. Select the point that you want and then zoom back in. So now, you will notice that you are on row 88. You did not scroll down. You did not have to spend a lot of time trying to find it. You zoomed out, selected it and zoomed back in. One last thing about the zoom functionality, you do not necessary have to work with zoom in the View Tab. You can simply go down to the lower right hand of you screen and slide the slider left or right in order to increase or decrease the magnification. Very good! I will return to 100% now to talk about the next thing.
