Jason Cameron: Veneering is an easy and effective way to give a piece of furniture an impressive, uniform look. Veneer is a great product because you can get any exotic way that you at a fractional cost as actually buying a lumber.
The process for veneering is very simple; to make a stronger bond we apply a contact cement to the MDF. Then all you have to do is take your sheets of veneer and apply them to the MDF itself.
Male: The precut sheets of veneer will be longer than your piece of furniture so you want to trim off the excess with the utility knife. When applying, remember to make sure the lines neat at all the corners.
Male: Now a lot of carpenter will veneer the sheet of MDF first, then make their cuts. The problem with that is you have a lot more edge bonding to do or you have to 45 every thing and sometimes your 45 cut isn’t perfect and it gets jagged. You can get—put pieces together, it could be problems. If you build it first, then you veneer it, you can get those corners exactly where you want.
