How to Work with Natural light

I’m not going to do that. So here, we are in my shooting area. We’re going to do another tutorial on window light and how easy and cheap and free it is. I think it's one of the most versatile lights that you could possibly use and we’re just going to show you a little bit right now. A window over here and the funny thing that a window does, it produces what’s called the window light. You have enough for the window. Are you good? Shall we get into it? Do a quick window light portrait say, head and shoulders. I’m not going to use any reflect or anything for this because in fact, my walls are pretty all white so it's really bouncing a lot of light everywhere. So, we’ll do the reflector after. Rani, can I have you stand right here, facing me. Now, what a lot of people will do and I’ve seen this all the time, is they’ll turn them right into the window and shoot like that, that’s not bad and I do that sometimes but if your turn them at a 45-degree angel just like your using. And mainly, you’ll get the sculpting of the face. So, put your hands in your hips, turn it that way and then bring your face back to me though. Beautiful, just touch your head that way, just a bit, no, all the way ahead, turn down slightly. Good, give me a hint f a smile. Beautiful, give me a big smile. It's very nice, very nice, good. Other side of the face is lit and you can see the little bit of a shadow on the side of the nose and the triangle here. That’s why we want a nice three-dimensional sculpting. I had to bring in a reflector now. we’ll use this big on here just to bring in a little more fill into the shadow side and as you can see the difference as we feather the reflector. So I’m just going top bring this down just a bit. I like to use a stool because I’m really short and also my models are a lot taller. I like to shoot up and shoot at a down angle. Perfect. Turn your body that way just a bit more and bring your head back this way a bit, good, big smile. There we go, beautiful. Good, relax. We’ll come back to me just a bit keep coming right there. Very nice, beautiful, just bring your eyes to me. Give me a smile and go serious again. Now give me sexy, seductive, there you go. You know, what they do is when they get a window, they’ve put them right next to the window and that’s great as you can see right now. A lot of people don’t know this or they don’t utilize this but if you’re actually back up from the window, keep coming back here. As she gets far away from the window, the lighter gets softer and softer because it's bouncing around wards as direct as it is there. The only difference is when you bring someone out farther from the window is you have to meet her accordingly because your half stop will decrease because of the amount of light. So you have to remember that, the farther we have, the softer the light from the shadow side and the highlight and it's very, very, pleasing. Okay, we’re going to do a shot. Let's bring in Ray back. We’re going to use the fringe of these litigators. So I just kind of lean up there, perfect. Now, as you can see, we just have the fringe of the light. She’s actually—the beam here is actually throwing a shadow from the light. We’re just catching this, scheming the light right across her face and I’m going to bring a little bit of a reflector in just like that. I’m going to come in for nice take shut, beautiful. Just bring your eyes here and do a smile, perfect, good. Thank you and I’m going to come right against the wall. Just turn your face out –yeah, actually, lean your head right on that, perfect. Very nice. This is unreal. I really want to make out about this. This is all free. This is all really free, and I don’t have to pay any company for a fee, it's free.
