Sarina: Hi! I am Sarina Jain and you are watching www.beYOU.tv. I am with Bob Kasunic, fitness instructor for Barry's Bootcamp. He is going to share his secret with us, what you can't get from a gym.
Hi Bob!
Bob: Hey Sarina! How are you?
Sarina: Good, I want to know what's the secret?
Bob: The secret is you can always get a great workout in, whether you belong to a gym or can't even get to your gym. My favorite thing to do, running the stairs.
Sarina: That's a great secret.
Bob: There is a lot of great things about running stairs. The first thing is no matter where you live, you have got stairs. Local grade schools, public buildings, houses, your office, even your own house. The other great thing is, it's a great cardio workout. It gets your heart rate going and keeps it up for a while. The third thing is that most people don't release is you can work your glutes, your calves, and every other part of your legs, if you do it right. So I am going to show you a few ways today that you can get your heart rate up and work your legs.
Sarina: Excellent, that sounds amazing to me.
Bob: Are you ready?
Sarina: I am ready.
Bob: Alright, remember I told you that cardio is a great thing for stairs, the only good thing is for legs. So what we are going to do today is for the lower cardio -- if you are just sure enough, you can do walking lunge on the stairs. So bring your back knee all the way down and then push off your standing leg and you get a nice glute workout. You are going to work your hamstring, feeling hamstring working?
Sarina: Absolutely.
Bob: Bring that knee down as far as you can, but don't let it go over your ankle.
Sarina: Your calves will work.
Bob: Your calves are going to begin to work, your hamstrings get some work, and you feel within your heart rate fluctuates. Do this about 15 to 20 times. No kidding, alright?.
Sarina: I know I am there, Bob. It's killing me here, Bob.
Bob: Good. Alright, so do you know one thing a lot of my clients complain about the most, Sarina?
Sarina: What?
Bob: Outer thigh and inner thigh. I will show you some great ways to shape and sculpt those inner and outer thighs and get cardio at the same time. We are just going to gallop right up the stairs. Join me.
Sarina: Just like that?
Bob: That's it, easy.
Sarina: Gallop and clap. Okay, Bob my legs?
Bob: No, you are doing great, come on, come on, come on -- stop, go, go, go, go.
Alright, so I have showed you some great ways to work your legs on the stairs, your quads, your inner thigh, outer thigh, hamstrings, and glutes, right? The cardio is the best thing you do on the stairs. So here is what we do. Any fitness lover can do stairs. If you are a beginner, take them one by one but clinch your butt cheeks and squeeze your thighs. When you are ready for it, pick up the pace. If you are an advance runner, take a 2X2 and get your heart rate going. Any level of this --
Sarina: Bob, wait for me. Wow! Wait, wait.
Bob: What does health mission mean to me? Health mission is having fun with your health. We all know it's important to stay in shape and worry about what we are doing, but if you are not going to have fun of it, you are never going to do it. So find something you are passionate about, find something that passes the time quickly, and find something that you really enjoy doing, and you will keep doing it over and over again.
Sarina: Wow! That was an inspiring workout. For more ways to take the work out of workouts, visit us at www.beYOU.tv.
